Research Assistant, Theoretical Institute of Physics (Supervisor dr Radoš Gajić), October 2006 – present: conducting theoretical research on the optical properties of photonic crystals and negative refraction in photonic crystals using computer models

  • Research Assistant, Department of Physics (Supervisor dr Al Meldrum), February 2004 – April 2006: conducted experimental research on the optical properties of silicon nanocrystals in spherical microcavities
    Duties included experiment and instrument setup/calibration, data gathering and
    analysis and report/article writing; the work was conducted individually and in a
    group setting with other professors and graduate students
    Research results were presented in a thesis, scientific articles, and a number of conference presentations and posters
  • Research Assistant, Department of Chemistry (Supervisor dr Jon Veinot), July 2004 – September 2005: conducted experimental research on photoluminescence of hydrogen silsesquioxane material
    Duties included experiment setup, data gathering and plotting
